North East Summer Camps
Over the past several days I’ve received several emails asking for specific information regarding summer camps and I do encourage you to email if you have questions. For the next few days I’ll be addressing these emailed questions and the number one enquiry has been asking for more information on northeast summercamps. Most of the emails are looking for information about traditional summercamps, so I’ll address those types of summercamps programs today.
Some of you are looking for specific locations like summercamps New York and I’ll include that in the discussion since there are a huge number of options for people looking to attend summercamps NY.
When researching childrens summercamps I recommend starting with the American Camp Association which has a wonderfully designed search page that lets you locate kids summercamps by location, activity/targeted focus, affiliation/cultural focus and age … they even have an advanced search function to really allow you to delimit your searches.
The other advantage of using this ACA search facility is that you will only be looking at ACA accredited summer camps which insures each camp’s facilities are reviewed at least once every 3 years to insure they meet rigid hygiene and safety requirements. You can select a location parameter by entering your ZIP code a selecting camp locations anywhere from within 5 miles up to 500 miles. Using the New York example for a moment if we enter the random NY ZIP of 10020 and select within 20 miles we get a display of 40 camps along with descriptions to help us narrow our search.
Click on any of the camp links returned and you’ll see an itemized description of the camp including session length, fees, featured summer camp activities and much more. This is an excellent first step in narrowing down the list of possible camps appropriate for your child.
Using the search function you can see that the north east has a very large number of youth summercamps which vary widely in their focus and activities offerred. I hope I’ve given you a good starting point for your search and again I remind you that your specific questions are always welcomed.
